The Board has asked the parent body of the Open Classroom to come to them at their next board meeting, March 19th, with a clear statement about the partitions and facilities.

In an effort for everyone to feel as happy as possible with what we present to the board we are asking for parents to dedicated the time needed to come to consensus and create a statement, at our meeting on Wednesday, March 11, 2015.

We will begin the meeting early, at 6:30pm, with hopes of finishing at 9:00pm. Childcare will be provided during that time.

During this meeting we will continue to use the consensus model. Since reaching consensus takes time both to hear and reflect on what you have heard, you may want to consider alternative childcare, as in the event we need to run later, we are asking for parents to stay. We understand this is not always possible and we will do our best to complete by 9:00pm.

– We will have a quick spaghetti dinner update.
– Then we need to choose the people who want to be on the hiring committee, as that process is starting mid March. – We will start with these items and then move to our main topic of the evening, which will be facilities update, discussion of the partitions and will include information about the art room.

The topic of whether to use consensus or move to a different model will only be on the agenda if the facilities discussion and decision goes quickly. I hope you understand. We need to get the facilitates issue completed. And both these topics will take time.

At the end of the meeting we will make a clear list of the future topics for the next parent meeting.

Mark Daley will be co-facilitating this meeting with me and Carol Normande will most likely be present as well, to assist with consensus and support that things run smoothly.

I will be emailing before the meeting on March 11th to explain more about the hiring committee.
Also if any changes come to our attention regarding the facilities.

Thanks everyone and hope to see you there.
